The NWFCU Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Northwest Federal Credit Union, held its ninth annual Night of Magic on Friday, Aug. 17, at Inova Children’s Hospital in Falls Church. Since 2009, the Foundation has produced Night of Magic as a way of creating a memorable evening for children receiving treatment at local hospitals and their families, many of whom miss social events like parties and school dances.

"It is our privilege to partner with Inova Children's Hospital each year to provide this special Night of Magic and serve these pediatric patients and their families," said Jeff Bentley, Northwest Federal Credit Union's president and CEO, and NWFCU foundation chair. The event was an evening of fun featuring music, dancing, food and more in a safe setting. To help with transportation expenses to and from the hospital and medical appointments, the Foundation surprised guests with a $50 gas gift card.

The evening's event also included a $10,000 donation by the NWFCU Foundation to the Inova Cares Clinic for Children, the largest donation the Foundation has made to date which according to Executive Director of the NWFCU Foundation, Alexzandra Shade, will enable the clinic to further service its mission to provide “comprehensive pediatric medical services for children of low-income families.”

Twenty-six corporate sponsors gave to support Night of Magic among them locally based Harris Teeter Stores of Northern Virginia; in Herndon Apple Spice Junction, Northwest Federal Credit Union and Cantina D'Italia and in Reston Odin, Feldman & Pittleman, P. C., Chick-fil-A Village Commons and Not Your Average Joe’s.
