The Northern-Virginia based acoustic duo singer/songwriters Tom Bodine and Kathleen Huber, known as "Song Garden," released their new album, “Bluebird Dragonfly" this month. Bodine and Huber are members of the Reston/Herndon Folk Club.
Bodine and Huber produced the thirteen-track album recorded by Gary Jaffe at Lizard Studios in West Springfield. Eleven tracks are original compositions by "Song Garden" with two cover songs by fellow Folk Club members Ric Sweeny and James D. Clark. The album features brilliant instrumentation by friends Marcy Cochran (fiddle) and Scott Malyszka (mandolin).
According to Songgardenmusic.org, "Bodine’s CD "Bring Me Back" (2012) was nominated for a Washington Area Music Association (WAMMIE) award in the Contemporary Folk category. Kathleen is a former member of "Ladies Done Waiting" and "The Northbrooks" who released their CD "Yes, Yes" in 2014.
On Sunday afternoon, May 20, "Song Garden" held a CD Release Party at Jammin' Java in Vienna. Fellow Reston/Herndon Folk Club members Marcy Cochran (fiddle), Neils Yonker (bass) and Valerie Stewart (harmony) joined "Song Garden" on stage for the ticketed concert performance of "Bluebird Dragonfly."
Described as possessing "thoughtful lyrics and inviting sound,” the show brought the house down with standing applause at its conclusion.
